Kyle Petty Crowns Big Winner in Las Vegas

Sweepstakes Winner Heading Home with Petty #45 Dodge

LAS VEGAS (March,12 2004) -- Most people come to Las Vegas hoping to win, but for one lucky NASCAR fan, this weekend's trip to Las Vegas is a sure bet. The Sioux Honey Association, marketers of Sue Bee Honey, is bringing the winner of its second annual "Win Kyle’s Car" sweepstakes to Las Vegas this weekend to award her with an authentic, street-legal replica of Kyle Petty's #45 Georgia-Pacific/Brawny/Sue Bee Honey NASCAR Dodge Intrepid race car. The car is virtually identical to the actual race car driven by Kyle Petty, right down to the racing graphics, spoiler, paint design and yellow lettered Goodyear tires. In fact, the vehicle is so accurate that many motorists have assumed it was the actual #45 race car coming down the interstate when passing the vehicle on the highway.

The sweepstakes winner, Naomi Locklear from Carlsbad, N.M., will be presented the car by NASCAR star Kyle Petty and Sioux Honey Association representatives at a special media event on Saturday morning, March 12, at 8:30 a.m. at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Kyle Petty has been amazed by the consumer response to the sweepstakes. "I know Sue Bee had a great response the first year, but it seems like every race fan in the country entered the sweepstakes this time around. They had over 600,000 hits on their Web site the week after we announced the contest last summer. I guess it just shows the power of NASCAR when it’s linked to a great product like Sue Bee Honey," he said.

The replica #45 Brawny/Sue Bee Honey Dodge is a street-legal Dodge Intrepid, featuring automatic transmission, air conditioning, CD player and all the factory-installed conveniences, wrapped in a custom body that accurately mimics the actual #45 Georgia-Pacific Petty NASCAR race car. The vehicle features a full roll-cage, window braces, rear spoiler with brackets, custom front fascia and an exact reproduction of the Kyle Petty #45 Georgia-Pacific/Brawny/Sue Bee Honey paint scheme as raced by Kyle Petty at the 2004 Kansas City Nextel Cup event. Because it is a fully street-legal vehicle, the car is driven on public highways and does not require a special trailer or transport vehicle, adding to the impact of the promotion.

When asked where the program goes from here and will there be a “Win Kyle’s Car 3,” Kyle responded, “Everyone’s just going to have to wait a week for the answer to that question. We have another press event scheduled for the Atlanta race, but I’ll just let you know that there might be more than one Petty involved in the program for this coming year.”
