TEXAN WINS ‘KING’S CAR’ IN SUE BEE HONEY CONTEST

ATLANTA — Phil Brand of Bryan, Texas, is the winner of a street-legal SuperBird, a replica of Richard “The King” Petty’s legendary NASCAR race car, in the Sue Bee Honey Win the King’s Car Giveaway. Richard Petty himself presented the car at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

More than 400,000 NASCAR fans entered Sue Bee Honey’s sweepstakes for a chance to win a replica of the distinctive blue SuperBird, with its long nose, massive rear wing and #43 racing graphics. In 40 starts, Petty took the SuperBird to victory lane 18 times and recorded 27 top-five and 31 top-10 finishes.

“When I found out I’d won the SuperBird, my wife and I almost couldn’t believe it,” said Brand, a longtime fan of NASCAR and Petty. “And then when they told me that I was going to meet the King, I just about fell over. To say it’s a dream come true is an understatement."

After handing over the keys to the delighted winner, Petty said, “The folks at Sue Bee have been loyal sponsors of the Pettys for a number of years, and I think it’s great that they would recreate an exciting part of my racing history. I have to admit that when I first saw the SuperBird, it was like stepping back in time. They got it right.”

In the two years prior to the Win the King’s Car sweepstakes, Sue Bee Honey gave away two street-legal replicas of the #45 Dodge driven by Kyle Petty, Richard’s son.

The next Sue Bee Honey/NASCAR giveaway will be announced at Daytona in July, according to Sue Bee Honey Executive Vice President Jim Powell. Details on the new giveaway also will be posted at www.suebee.com.

Sue Bee Honey, America’s most popular brand of honey, comes from the Sioux Honey Association, the world’s largest honey-marketing organization. This cooperative association, based in Sioux City, Iowa, produces more than 50 million pounds of honey a year and is a leader in honey research and development.
